Day 1: Lima – Cusco – Walk through the city center

Arrival in Cusco, you will have the entrance transfer and time to acclimatize to the altitude, in the afternoon you will visit the city of Cusco, the first place to visit will be Qorikancha (Temple of the Sun) and take a walk through the city center and visit of the colonial neighborhood of San Blas.

Day 2: Cusco archaeological City tour.

In the morning after breakfast we will visit the San Pedro market, upon entering the market all your senses come into play. The variety of colors you will find will quickly open your eyes! The smell of raw meats and spices will invade your nostrils. There are about 30 juice stands. Generally, they all sell the same juices and combinations for the same prices. We will then continue out of the city center to visit Sacsayhuaman, the complex was built with huge stones, some of which weigh up to 300 tons, cut to fit without the use of mortar. Today, many of the outer walls, built in a zigzag and staggered pattern, remain, as do several tunnels and the “Throne of the Inca.” The latter is a series of large rocks with well-worn grooves that many visitors use as slides. A large open plaza seating several thousand people once hosted ceremonial activities and continues to be used today, most notably for the annual Inti Raymi festival celebration at the end of June. Then we will visit the archaeological site of Qenqo, then transfer back to the hotel. Rest of the afternoon free to explore the Inca-Colonial city of Cusco.

Day 3: Cusco – Pisac – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes.

Morning after breakfast, we go “deep into Inca Territory” and our first visit will be Pisac, the gateway of the Urubamba or “The Sacred Valley”.  Frist, we visit some of the most spectacular terracing in the region and after a beautiful walk we arrive at the very intact temple area of Pisac with its Intiwatana. We may also visit the colorful craft Pisac market. Then continue to Ollantaytambo Inca town, where we can appreciate their impressive archaeological site with the cyclopean temple up in the mountain and their majestic terraces. After we drive to the Train station; we will board the train in Ollantaytambo for our journey to Machu Picchu. Watch the cloud jungle pass by through the large glass windows! Upon arrival to Aguas Calientes transfer to the hotel.

Day 4: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Ollantaytambo – Cusco.

Morning after breakfast, transfer to the bus station, after a bus ride to the gates of this wonder of the world, you will pass through the main gates with your private guide to finally emerge at the top of the world – Machu Picchu. The incredible Inca stone construction will be spread below, alternately hidden and revealed by clouds. Your expert guide will give you a private tour of the ancient city. Upon conclusion of your tour, return for lunch time in Aguas Calientes, after transfer to the train station and travel back to Ollantaytambo by train. Pick up and private transfer to your hotel in Cusco.

Day 5: Cusco – Chinchero– Moray – Maras.

Here, you will witness and learn about Inca culture. The first place to visit Chinchero, where the population keep the ancient techniques for spinning and weaving their textiles preserve from the Incas time. Then continue to Moray, here You will see amazing works of stone art and impressive agricultural terraces “the Inca agricultural greenhouse or laboratory”, consisting of four platforms amphitheater style, has a depth of 150 meters, the overlapping concentric circular stone rings widen as they rise. It was an experimental place to study the adaptation of plants to new ecosystems.

After that we are going to visit the famous salt mines, made up of about 3000 small wells with an area average size of about 4 mts ². These were already exploited since Inca times as a means of economic exchange and securities. Very interesting to see how the salt is recovered from these mines and the villagers work here every day. Finally return to your hotel in Cusco.

Day 6: Cusco – Lima – Home.
