DESCRIPTION:

Arequipa:

It is located at 2325 masl, in the desert mountains of the Andes.

This is the second most important city in Peru.

The Main square is the most beautiful in the country. The magnificent Cathedral and the more colonial building styles. This beautiful city is practically built in volcanic white tuff (sillar). This is why Arequipa is called the White City. More than one million inhabitants. With an excellent weather, it´s possible to see many types of products from the agriculture in the local market, local business and the delicious typical food.

In this tour is to have a good time to relax, we have enough time for lunch or any coffee, it could be in the morning or in the afternoon´.

COLCA VALLEY:

It is a big landscape surrounded by many mountains, the Colca river is the longest from the andes to the Pacific Ocean and the famous Colca canyon, it is one of the deepest in the world with a depth of 4160 meters or 13600 feet.

The Colca Valley is a so colorful Andean valley with pre-Inca roots, and towns founded in Spanish colonial times, still inhabited by people of the Collagua and the Cabana (pre inca cultures)

The local people maintain their ancestral traditions and continue cultivating the pre-Inca agricultural terraces. You will appreciate the local people still wearing the typical dress, it´s really amazing.

It´s possible to see an active volcano from Patapampa the highest route in south America and the Mismi mountain where it´s the Amazon river source, there are many hot springs and they are excellent to swim.

The travellers really enjoy each place because it is so different and many attractions are together. It´s one of the most famous destination in Perú, 

Also it is possible to appreciate the second biggest flying bird in the world, the Andean Condor, they are flying around the visitors in the famous Condor Cross.       

ITINERARY:

1st day:

Walking tour: 05 hours.

We will visit:

Main square: One of the most beautiful main square in South America, it´s surrounded by arcades.

Cathedral: Considered the most beautiful Cathedral in Peru, it was built in 1621.

Santa Catalina Covent: It was founded in 1580, this area is 20 000 mts2, it is one of the most fascinating religious buildings in Peru, there were 400 nuns until 1970 when the Monastery was closed.

Jesuits cloister and Church: It was built in 1698, it is one of the most representative monuments in the 17th-century religious architecture.

San Ignacio Chapel: A beautiful polychromatic chapel.

San Camilo Local market: Designed by Gustav Eifel, the 1st local market.

Colonial streets: to appreciate colonial houses and old streets.

Santuarios Andinos museum: it´s to appreciate one of the most conserved mummy in the world, her name is JUANITA.

2nd day:

We pick you up at 07:30 hrs. from your Hotel in Arequipa and we start our trip to Chivay, 5 hours approximately.
We visit :

  • National Park, where it´s possible to appreciate the Vicuñas, they have the finest fiber in the world.
  • Patahuasi: where there is a restaurant to use the bathroom and to drink a mix Coca tea (local herbs) they´re excellent for the mountain illness known as Soroche.
  • Lamas and alpacas, camelids from the Andes, they are domesticated and they will be so close.
  • Tocrapampa, to appreciate the big landscape, local houses and the elementary school.
  • Patapampa, the highest point will be here with 4910 masl or 16110 feet above the sea level, we appreciate many mountains like the Mismi where is the source of the Amazon river it´s the largest river in the world and we will see an active volcano.
  • Chivay, the capital of the Colca Valley, a town located at 3630 m.a.s.l, or 11900 feet, here is the lunch (buffet service) and the hotel, in the afternoon we go to the hot spring, volcanic water 38 °C or 100 °F.
  • Folkloric Show, there is a restaurant where it´s possible to see typical dances from the Colca Valley and to have dinner. (if the Hotel is located in Chivay).

3rd day:


07:00 Hrs, After the breakfast we will continue to visit:

  • Achoma viewpoint, where it´s possible to see the beginning of the beautiful pre inca terraces,
  • Maca town, this town is sinking 2, 10 or 20 cm. every year since 1992, in this year there was an earthquake.
  • Peña Blanca viewpoint, beautiful viewpoint where is possible to see the landscape and the beginning of the canyon.
  • Antahuillque viewpoint, Called the best viewpoint to appreciate more pre Inca terraces, the Colca river and more.
  • Mirador Cruz del Condor, considered the most important viewpoint in the Colca Valley because it´s possible to see a big part of the depth of the canyon, and it´s to have enough time to wait the fly of the Condor (the second biggest flying bird in the world).
  • We comeback to Chivay for the same route for lunch and to your hotel in Arequipa city around 16:30 hrs. in your
